February 4th – World Cancer Day

Awareness, Early Diagnosis and Prevention

World Cancer Day is commemorated every year on February 4th to raise awareness about cancer; to strengthen consciousness regarding early diagnosis, effective treatment and cancer prevention. This day, declared in 2000 under the leadership of the International Cancer Fighting Organization, is a symbol of a common stance in the fight against cancer worldwide.

Cancer is a major public health problem affecting millions of people worldwide. However, thanks to scientific advances, screening programs and increased awareness, early diagnosis is possible in many types of cancer; this significantly increases treatment success and quality of life.

Early diagnosis is one of the most critical factors in the fight against cancer. Regular screening programs for common types of cancer such as breast, cervical, colon and prostate cancer allow the disease to be detected before symptoms appear. It is vital for individuals to closely monitor their own health and not neglect regular check-ups.

The fight against cancer is not only an individual responsibility, but also a societal and institutional responsibility. Organizations developing practices that support employee health, conducting awareness campaigns, and creating policies that promote healthy living make a significant contribution to this process. Early diagnosis and preventive approaches make it possible to take strong steps in the fight against cancer. Increasing health awareness is a shared responsibility of individuals and organizations.

Awareness saves lives.
